September 26 - 28, 2008...

This year is the 11th Annual Algonquin Adventure and time for a bit of reflection. This star party began with 6 friends meeting at Mew Lake Campground and since then, we have been host to 779 people, on 276 campsites. We have been rained out on 3 weekends, but all other events had at least one night of perfect seeing. There have been 43 Annual Algonquin Moose Awards and 4 Ten Year Awards & Certificates presented. These awards are presented to those who have attended 5 or 10 Algonquin Adventures.

As well, we have shared our hobby with hundreds of visitors to the park, many who purposely book holidays to correspond with this event.

This event is hosted by the Toronto Centre of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada and we are looking forward to another fantastic weekend of camping and observing with new and old friends and hope you will join us.

This is a camping weekend and reservations can be made any time from April 26, 2008. Making your reservation is easy. You can call the Ontario Parks Reservation line at 1-888-668-7275 or by visiting their website at www.OntarioParks.com.

Accommodations offered at Mew Lake Campground are electrical and non-electrical campsites, and yurts. (A yurt is a semi-permanent structure which sleeps 6 and is perfect for those who do not enjoy the tenting experience. All you need to bring is food, clothing, and bedding. There are only seven yurts at Mew Lake, so reserve early to avoid disappointment.)

Mew Lake Campground is fully equipped with clean restrooms, free showers, a sandy beach (on a small, calm lake) and many daytime activities i.e. hiking, museums, swimming, canoeing, and bird watching. At night, of course, we have the pristine dark skies that Algonquin Park is famous for.

Once you have made your reservation, please e-mail "astronomers AT sympatico.ca" to advise us of your site number and the names of those sharing your site, so that we can be sure to include everyone. Should you have any questions, please contact Lillian or Robert Chapman at 705 386-7087 or at the above email address.

We look forward to seeing you in September.

Lillian & Robert Chapman
