Long Sault Conservation Area

Once a month, Toronto Centre members host a dark sky star party at Long Sault Conservation area. This pristine observing site is just far enough from city lights to afford stargazers naked eye sights of the Milky Way and many deep sky objects. The flat, gravel parking lot is perfect for 'scopes and mounts of all kinds. Long Sault is a great place to do astrophotography or visual observing for deep sky targets.

Exit the 401 at the Bowmanville Ave (formerly Waverly Road) exit (number 431) and proceed north. Becomes Regional Road 57. Turn right (east) onto Regional Road 20 then turn left (north) on Woodley Road. Travel time is approximately 60 minutes from Yonge Street and Highway 401, but depends on traffic. If travelling from the east, you might consider exits for 115/35 (#436) or Liberty St (#432) and then take Regional Rd 20 westbound.

Parking: 
There is plenty of parking, though if you are arriving after dark, be sure to approach slowly and with your lights off so as to preserve the night-adapted vision of people already arrived.
